I am currently working on a research in relation to the placements within teacher training. The exploration revolves around the effectiveness of school placements and related reflection sessions as well as factors influencing the trainee teachers’ placements experience.
This practice-based enquiry is carried out in collaboration with trainee teachers. Although I provide guidance and the overall oversight over the research methodology, methods and questions, the trainee teachers are heavily involved at all stages, from data collection to coding and the interpretation of data.
The research questions:
Which factors influence the placement experience?
How do expectations of placements influence the placement experience?
What roles do modelling and/or other teaching strategies play within teacher training sessions?
What are the student teacher perceptions on the effectiveness of teacher training placements?
